On December 27, 1763, St. Margaret Mary Alocoque received her first vision of Jesus during Eucharistic Adoration. As noted in Divine Mercy in the Second Greatest Story Ever Told, (Father Michael Gaitley, MIC) Jesus appeared to her to counter the effects of Jansenism. Jansenism promoted our unworthiness and created a great fear of God, drawing us away from Him. Jesus appearing to St. Margaret Mary with his Sacred Heart exposed, sought to lead us back to the love, forgiveness and mercy of God. Jesus gave us Twelve Promises.
