Meet the Artist, Jan-Marie Brown
Jan-Marie is a local artist with an amazing talent for painting religious art. She credits her amazing ability to a personal God given experience.
In her youth while her father was in the US Air Force Jan-Marie traveled extensively with her parents. She visited cathedrals, palaces and many other wondrous places. She experienced the Prado and the La Humbrea, as well as the open markets of San Francisco with its lively street art. She studied at Syracuse University and later at Lemoyne College.
Through her early years her talent for drawing was mostly used to create art work for her mother's elementary school classes. It was not until several years later after she took a fall and suffered a concussion that she realized how God moved in her life to develop and enhance her talents.
After the fall she could not sleep, was forgetful and couldn't focus. She needed help. Jan-Marie and her mom prayed. She was sent to the SUNY Upstate Medical University Concussion Clinic for art therapy as an exercise to help her learn to focus. It was then that she discovered how her talents and abilities had grown. She now focuses on what God has led her to do and creates incredible inspiring spiritual portraits.
Jan -Marie says " My ability is God given. It is meant to be shared. I hope that it engages the viewer. It is meant to offer a feeling that reminds the gazer of a special time, place or person. I feel privileged and Blessed to be able to do what I do and to share it with others."
