Do You Love Me?   The Church of Gallicantu in the Holy Land built to commemorate where Peter denied Jesus three times.  Father Scardella celebrated Mass for us there in an outside Chapel.  The Church has the rooster on top as a sign of Peter's denial of Jesus three times.   How moving are the doors to the Church?   "You will deny me three times."

  And pictured below, at the shore of Galilee where Jesus asked Peter three times, "Do you love me?"  Inside the Church, the rock where Jesus is believed to have cooked the fish.  Mensa Christi (from Wikipedia)The church contains a projection of limestone rock in front of the present altar which is venerated as a "Mensa Christi", Latin for table of Christ. According to tradition this is the spot where Jesus is said to have laid out a breakfast of bread and fish for the Apostles, and told Peter to "Feed my sheep" after the miraculous catch, the third time he appeared to them after his resurrection. (John 21:1-24) It is disputed whether this table, or the one enshrined at the nearby Church of the Multiplication, is the one mentioned by the pilgrim Egeria in her narrative of the Holy Land circa 380. There is also another table of Christ enshrined at the Mensa Christi Church in Nazareth.
The last pic is personal but to be shared.   I was still working for Alling and Cory xpedx and had a decision to make over two jobs.  One would have allowed me to continue travel (which I made into mini pilgrimages also) or the other I would work in the local office.  I had been invited to teach Religious Education at my Parish, St. Therese.   I was listening to a CD by Joe and Jean-Ann Hand and the song, For His Sake, played and as I listened to the words, my heart was moved by Feed my Lambs and I knew what my decision would be.   I would continue working in the local office so I could teach 5th grade Religious Education.  And as God works in mysterious ways, heals us and restores us with greater responsiblity, I later became the Faith Formation Director at Christ the King Church for 13 years, feeding (I hope and pray well) the children and adults of the Parish.   How lovely to walk along that shoreline in 2014 remembering the verses that inspired my life changing decision.
